Exciting news from the recruitment committee

ree

We wanted to share an exciting update on our upcoming recruitment plans – and let you

know how you can get involved.

Following feedback and reflection, we’ve decided to move away from a traditional open

evening and instead focus on what we do best – sharing our passion for acting and theatre.

Our immediate recruitment needs are in directing and acting, so we’re hosting two free acting

workshops in July, led by Caroline with support from Sally Eaton, a trained and experienced

drama workshop leader.

These workshops are not being explicitly promoted as recruitment events but are designed to

be enjoyable, skill-building sessions that naturally introduce new people to our group.

There’ll also be an opportunity for attendees to meet our brilliant technical and backstage

team – so we’re especially keen for volunteers from those areas to come along and chat about

what they do.

Key dates:

Thursday 3 July – Acting Workshop 1

Tuesday 22 July – Acting Workshop 2

Tuesday 2 September – Acting/Audition Workshop (focused on our November play

auditions later that week)

All workshops will take place at the WI Hall, Station Road, Bingham.

We’d love to see some familiar faces at the workshops – though, of course, we’ll need to

prioritise places for potential new members if we’re oversubscribed. If you’re happy to be

there to chat about sound, lights, props, costume, stage managing etc etc please let us know.

We’ve designed a new members website to promote the workshops and also the many social

events and play readings we are now planning for the forthcoming months – just go to

ebdg.co.uk (we will change this web address shortly to reflect our new name) to take a look.

Click the members area to see the new content and reserve a space at the workshops. (We

have included some photos of previous plays – we hope no-one has any objection to being

included but if you have any concerns please let Mark know).

We are also forming a new social committee to plan social activities for the year ahead and if

you are interested in getting involved just let Caroline know.

We will be promoting the workshops through facebook and attendance at Bingham Fair

(handing out leaflets) and a stall again at East Bridgford Village Show and Geoff has secured

us a free article and photo in June’s Rushcliffe news

Hazi and Caroline are putting together a full programme of play readings over the next 6

months so watch out for another communication on dates etc – we do hope as many members

as possible can join us for some fun readings and hopefully identifying suitable plays for the

future.

Here’s how you can help:

Join us at the workshops – as a participant or to chat with newcomers

Volunteer to help at Bingham Fair(14 June) or East Bridgford Village Show (28

June)

Support our social and play-reading activities

Spread the word – share our events and news on social media when the campaign

goes live in late June

New website – take a look to get early notice of new events etc Bring a friend to the workshops – statistics show that most new recruits come from

friends of existing members – so why not get a friend or two to join you at the

workshop. It will be fun and is open to all abilities (age 18+)

Let’s make this a successful summer of recruitment and connection for EBBDG. Thank you

for being part of it!

Best wishes,

Mark, Caroline, Hazi, Angela & Geoff

PS if you want to get involved in the first instance email Mark (maldrich999@yahoo.co.uk)
